What is it ?

The salt pellets are created from salt that has been dissolved in water to change it into brine, once this is done, the pure brine is separated from the impurities and then heated to boiling to evaporate all the water and obtain a pure salt that can range from 95 to 99% purity. After that the salt is compressed to obtain the salt pellets.

When it is use ?

Salt pellets are used when the water is "hard" to soften it, that is to say when the water contains more minerals (mainly calcium and magnesium) than usual.

Because they are positively charged ions, the other positively charged ions will dissolve less easily in water that contains a lot of calcium and magnesium than in water that contains very little or none.

How it is use?

The softener contains resins that look like small balls. They retain the limestone of the water by exchanging the calcium ions of the hard water for the sodium ions they contain. The hard water flows through the resin bed and exits the device softened.

Depending on water consumption, resins gradually become saturated with calcium ions and gradually lose their effectiveness.

It is not necessary to change them. It is enough to regenerate them with salt water (brine) obtained from softener tablets. During this operation, called regeneration, the calcium ions attached to the resins are exchanged for sodium ions.
